The Susa Valley, travelled through by the Romans and by Hannibal, theatre of clashes during the wars between Spain and France in the 16th century and subsequently invaded on several occasions by the French, offers the visitor a wide range of historical testimonies.
Of notable interest are the Roman remains of Susa, including a theatre, the Sagra di San Michele (“Abbey of St. Michael”) which is situated at the halfway point between San Michel in France and Monte Sant’Angelo in Puglia, the medieval abbey of San’Antonino of Susa with its frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries, as well as the famous fortresses of Exilles, Fenestrelle and Chaberton.
Turin, an important baroque city, conserves significant Roman remains and is surrounded by the Savoyard Residences which have been declared “World Heritage Sites” by Unesco. It is home to the second largest Egyptian Museum in the world, several important art galleries, and is known throughout the world as an important centre for contemporary art. The facilities built for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and the accompanying architectural renovations make the city an undoubtedly fascinating attraction.
“Monti della Luna” collaborates with tourist guides in the valley and travel agencies in town, and is available for the organisation of, or consultation on, visits of one or more days, including TURIN AND THE OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS Click here
